Plastic backing for embroidered patches

Our custom patches are available with many backing options but the most common is plastic. A plastic backing is perfect for those clients who intend to use the patches as collectibles, giveaways or would like to sew them on to the apparel of their choice.

The main reason for the plastic is that it helps keep the threads on the back end from unraveling. Additionally, it does give the patch a much firmer feel. If extra firmness is needed, we can use double the plastic, however, we suggest asking one of our account executives, as this may be overkill for most applications.

The plastic is added to the emblems after the initial embroidery process has taken place. In essence, the emblems, still attached to the twill, are put through a large laminator that adheres the plastic to the backs of the patches. After cooling, the emblems are then cut out, trimmed and inspected for quality, then ready for packaging and shipping.

All is all, if you have any questions about which backing to you, please just ask us. It’s why we are here, to help you.
